In the tranquil village of Nulles, Francesc Boronat is rekindling his family's historic vineyard, where wine flowed a century ago. The persistent sea breeze preserves the wines' vitality and acidity, crafted from native Tarragona varieties. "Tanca els Ulls," Catalan for 'close your eyes,' embodies the courage to venture into the unknown. In a village of 480, without any other active wineries, Francesc describes the revival as "deeply emotional." This cuvée pays homage to his grandfather's last vineyard companion, "La Lleona," or "the lion."
Handpicked from 80-year-old vines, the Cartoixà de la Marina grapes, a pink-skinned Xarel.lo mutation, undergo a 6-day maceration in stainless steel. After pressing, they rest on lees for 4 months in steel tanks. Bottled au naturel, without fining or filtration, and with minimal added SO2, it reveals a light body with notes of underripe cantaloupe, florals, saline, and a mineral touch.
