Jan is an elderly vigneron in Rabós whose grandfather planted this parcel in the years just after phylloxera destroyed most of the region's vineyards. Jordi Esteve befriended him when he arrived in the village and has worked the 100-year-old Carignan vines alongside him ever since. The vineyard is tiny, the yields are low, the slate soils give the wine an acidity and mineral intensity you don't find anywhere else in the RIM range.
If the Sarau Tinto is the everyday wine, the Jan Tinto is the one you put away for a while and open on the right occasion.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: dark cherry, dried herbs, slate mineral, subtle earthiness
