Tanca Els Ulls Cartoixà de la Marina La Lleona 2023

In the tranquil village of Nulles, Francesc Boronat is rekindling his family's historic vineyard, where wine flowed a century ago. The persistent sea breeze preserves the wines' vitality and acidity, crafted from native Tarragona varieties. "Tanca els Ulls," Catalan for 'close your eyes,' embodies the courage to venture into the unknown. In a village of 480, without any other active wineries, Francesc describes the revival as "deeply emotional." 

100% Cartoixà de Marina (known also as Xarel-lo Vermell) from a single parcel located immediately next to the Gaia river. Skin fermented for six days, then pressed off and aged on its fine lees for four months. The wine is fresh, saline and mineral. Typical Mediterranean flavours on the nose, herbal and fragrant. The cuvée takes its name from the name of the last horse with whom Francesc' grandfather worked the vineyards - La Lleona ('Lion').
