Theresa and Bernhard Liszt farm clay-rich, mineral-laden soils around Leithaprodersdorf biodynamically, doing everything by hand. Furmint is a rare grape in Austria — barely 28 hectares planted across all of Burgenland — but in the right hands it keeps its acidity and produces wines of real precision even in warm years. The Minimaliszt is exactly what the name says: grapes harvested in small 8kg boxes, directly pressed, fermented spontaneously and aged on full lees in clay amphora, bottled by gravity with a trace of sulphur. No filtration, no fining, no disturbance.
The cuvée names all end in -iszt — a nod to the family name, and to the composer. This one features a pair of vineyard shears on the label. Fitting.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: lemongrass, lime, dried orange peel, light ginger
Palate: bright orchard fruit, subtle herbs, clean saline edge
Texture: feather-light, lively, with a fine mineral thread
Finish: fresh, long, and quietly precise
