Jas sources Kerner and Riesling from Piri Naturel in the Nahe, all organically farmed on clay soils. The Kerner is hand-destemmed and macerated for two weeks; the Riesling direct-pressed for acidity. Then both are aged outside — barrels and tanks exposed to the elements — giving the wine a wild, open character you don't find in cellar-bound orange wines. 12mg/l sulphites at bottling only. 400 bottles made.
The 2024 is fully dry — no residual sugar, a step further than the 2022. Jas skipped 2023 entirely and came back with something more focused.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: orange peel, vanilla, roasted walnuts, nasturtium, highland whisky vibes
Palate: brioche, Danish pastry, light citrus, gentle tannin
Texture: light to medium, good acidity from the Riesling
Finish: dry, aromatic, and warmly persistent
Don't serve too cold — the aromatics need a bit of room.
