André-Jean Morin is the ninth generation to farm Domaine de la Touraize — a family estate in Arbois dating back to 1704. He's held in such regard by the local community that he's one of the few vintners given the honour of carrying the biou, the ceremonial ceremonial harvest bunch, through the town at the annual Fête du Biou. The Côtes à Côtes was actually born from catastrophe: the 2017 frost left so little fruit that André-Jean blended his Trousseau and Pinot Noir together for the first time. He liked it so much he kept going. The 2024 — another brutal vintage for Jura, with losses of up to 70% in some areas — sees the blend fermented carbonically in amphora: Trousseau from gravelly marl for grip and depth, Pinot Noir from grey marl for delicacy and lift.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: raspberry, red cherry, subtle spice, light floral note
Palate: bright red fruit, soft and juicy, barely tannic
Texture: light, silky, with a fine mineral thread
Finish: fresh, clean, and quietly persistent
