Francesco's "little red" — Sangiovese from a friend's Maremma vineyard, just 3 days on skins, and lighter in colour than you'd expect. He calls it "actually whiter than my white." He's not entirely wrong.

Francesco Carfagna makes his life on Isola del Giglio, but his red comes from the mainland — sourced from a trusted friend in the Maremma, where the Sangiovese has the warmth and weight of southern Tuscany. Just 3 days of skin contact before pressing, fermented with indigenous yeasts, nothing added. The result is juicy, light, and full of life — amarena cherry, wet stone, anise, and that characteristic Mediterranean sunniness that runs through everything Francesco touches.
Serve lightly chilled. Don't overthink it.
