Oronce de Beler left Paris in 2004 with a passion for Burgundy's Pinot Noir and a decision to make wine himself. He spent years studying viticulture in Beaune, interning at family estates, and eventually founding a horse-drawn plowing company on the Côte d'Or before La Maison Romane took shape. He works as a négociant — no owned vineyards, but close relationships with organically and biodynamically farmed growers he trusts. The Hautes Côtes comes from clay-limestone soils in Villars-Fontaine, hand-harvested, 100% whole cluster, fermented in wooden vats for 3 weeks, aged 12 months in oak. Unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2.
