Muskat Ottonel, Grüner Veltliner, Furmint • Burgenland
Theresa and Bernhard Liszt farm around Leithaprodersdorf with a clear aversion to convention. The Individualiszt is their most uncompromising white — three structurally different varieties, each handled separately: Muskat Ottonel destemmed and fermented with a small addition of whole grapes for aromatic intensity; Grüner Veltliner whole-bunch fermented for texture and spice; Furmint directly pressed for precision and mineral drive. Each variety aged in a different vessel — small barrels, glass balloon, amphora — then blended. Under 10mg/l total sulphur, no additions.
The hoopoe bird on the label is no coincidence — this is a wine that goes its own way.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: exotic floral, citrus, spice, subtle stone fruit
Palate: layered and expressive, mineral tension from the Furmint, aromatic depth from the Muskat
Texture: structured, complex, with real length
Finish: dry, persistent, and distinctly individual
Serve lightly chilled. Give it time in the glass.
