The VDF Syrah 2021 from Jean-Michel Stephan is an elegant, pure, and expressive natural Syrah from the northern Rhône — a wine that carries the same finesse and authenticity as his Côte-Rôtie bottlings, but with a freer, more playful spirit.
Sourced from young vines grown on granite and schist soils just outside the Côte-Rôtie appellation, this Syrah is fermented naturally with whole clusters and aged in old oak barrels. Bottled without fining, filtration, or sulfur, it captures the essence of the grape in its most transparent form.
The palate is lively and balanced, with notes of violet, black cherry, cracked pepper, and olive tapenade, framed by fine tannins and fresh acidity. Refined yet vibrant — a perfect introduction to Stephan’s unmistakable touch.
