The Luchini Blanc 2023 from Mai & Kenji Hodgson is a testament to creativity and resilience. The 2023 vintage in Bellevigne-en-Layon was challenging — warm, wet, and ideal for mildew, making clean fruit hard to come by. Instead of releasing separate cuvées, Mai and Kenji made a bold, elegant choice:
→ they blended the 2022 and 2023 harvests of Faia into one unified wine.
The first part (2022) matured in old wooden barrels, bringing depth and quiet richness; the second part (2023) was aged in amphora, adding purity, tension, and mineral clarity. The result is a beautifully balanced, luminous Chenin Blanc that feels both classic and new.
In the glass, Luchini Blanc shows yellow apple, quince, citrus oil, and subtle honeyed notes, lifted by vibrant acidity and a fine, textural grip. The amphora component adds a gentle salinity and savory length, while the barrel-aged portion brings roundness and quiet power.
The label — created especially for this edition — marks this unique moment in the domaine’s history: a difficult year transformed into something harmonious.
