Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe moved to Oggau in 2007 and restored a 17th-century winery that had been abandoned for 20 years. The vines' two decades of neglect turned out to be fortunate — no chemicals, no treatments, just time. They've farmed biodynamically ever since, now Demeter certified. Theodora is their entry-level white: 60% Grüner Veltliner, 40% Welschriesling from gravel and limestone soils, hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented in used barrels of varying sizes, 9 months on lees without stirring, bottled unfined, unfiltered, no sulphur added.
Each wine in the Gut Oggau range has its own face on the label — a fictional family. Theodora is one of the children: young, bold, and full of nerve.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: green apple, lime, honeydew melon, earthy herbs
Palate: citrus, white peach, pineapple, lively white pepper
Texture: medium-bodied, textured, with a lightly grippy finish
Finish: fresh, chalky, and persistently bright
